How to Fix Unable to Execute File in Temporary Directory

While updating the newer versions of Driver Easy, the error, “unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 5: Access is denied” may occur. It should be noted that this error is not caused by the Driver Easy software issues but because of the system issues. Even when installing other soft wares, similar problems may be encountered.

Here are a few solutions to combat this issue:

  1. Running the Administrator file- after having right- clicked on the installer file, the Run as Administrator option should be clicked. This will make the software get installed successfully.
  2. Security right issues may also lead to the problem . The following steps may serve to be helpful:a) In the search box, type C:\Users\[Username]\App data\Local.
    b) In the Temp folder, Right click and choose.

    c) A dialog box will appear where the Security tab has to be clicked followed by clicking on Advanced option in the security tab.

    d) Another dialog box appears where the first tab is Permission Tab where one can see the different permissions that are available. In the list, one can see System with full control which is applicable to ‘This Folder, subfolder and files’, Administrators with full control which is applicable to ‘This folder, subfolder and files’. The permissions has to be inherited from C:\Users\[Username]\ folder . If the ‘Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent’ checkbox is not available then one must click on Change Permissions.

    e) After having clicked on Change Permissions, click on the apply and OK buttons followed by a click on Continue if some problems still persists after which the permissions that aren’t inherited needs to be removed.

  3. In many cases, it may be HIPS( Host- based Intrusion Prevention System) that can be causing this problem. However, fully disabling the anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall applications may help solve the issue.
