Solution: Make sure the system isn’t overheating

When the system overheats, it automatically shuts down without giving a heads up. Overheating is one of the major reasons of random shutdowns.  Temperature between the ranges of 45-60 degrees is okay for your system to function in. However, temperatures beyond the 60 degree Celsius mark can result in overheating and consequently, shutdowns. In order to monitor the temperature of your system, you can go to your bios settings and it will show you the details there.

Software can also be used to monitor the temperature levels of your device. HWMonitor is a software program that is free for use and is an excellent choice to monitor temperature levels of your device.

To solve the overheating problem, the following methods can be employed to get best results.

  • Clean dirt and debris from your computer

Try to clean the vents of your computer and make sure you clean them thoroughly and do not leave any side unattended. Also, refrain from placing the laptop on your thighs or places that can block the vents.

  • Replace worn out or broken fans

Open the cover of your computer and locate the fans. If they are broken or worn out and can’t do their job properly, replace them with new fans.

Solution 5: Updating the BIOS

Go to your manufacturer’s website and download all the latest BIOS drivers. You will get all the information regarding updating BIOS drivers on the manufacturer’s website. All you have to do is go to Google and type in “Brand name+ update bios” to find the detailed instructions.

If you are new at updating BIOS, it is advisable to get assistance from someone who knows what he’s getting into. Failure to update the BIOS properly can create further problems for you. Your system may become unbootable as a consequence of this.
